How to Style a Coffee Table

A well styled coffee table can help to really pull a room together and make the space feel finished. Not only are there many ways to style a coffee table, but there are a vast variety of coffee table shapes and sizes. No matter the shape or size, it comes down to starting with basics.

Here are a few tips from our interior design team on how to style a coffee table:

1. Create your base: Creating a starting point for you to build off is important when designing anything. One of the easiest pieces to start with is a tray. It creates a focal point or base, as a bonus, they are also great for keeping your remote controls or coasters organized.

2. Stack of books: Coffee table books are beautiful, great conversation starters, and they might even encourage you to flip through some inspirational pages. We absolutely love stacking books to create height or a landing place for your decorative items.

3. Levels: No matter the size of your coffee table, it’s always a good idea to have varying levels to bring interest to the eye. This could mean creating height by stacking layers of books or adding some pretty greenery or branches to a vase.

4. Layer in decorative objects: Decorative objects are a sure way to add interest to your coffee table. It can be something meaningful or simply “pretty” like a sculptural piece or bead set.

5. Top it off with a pretty candle: The key to instantly setting the vibe in your living room? Light a candle. Adding in designer candles help bring an elevated touch to the space!
